The Broad Casting event juxtaposes artists and genres in ways you would never think would work. Artists such as Buraka Som Sistema to Tony Allen to Hypnotic Brass Ensemble to Jimi Tenor to Mulatu Astatke have performed.

Instant “Karma” Stewart

The first time I was introduced to the new siren Karma Stewart of Platinum Pied Pipers (PPP) was at Southpaw during the Brooklyn Hip Hop festival this past summer. When she came on stage, there was some serious voltage in the air. Then she started to sing and dance, and it was an electrifying performance. Especially when she performed PPP’s latest single “On A Cloud”. I don’t know if I can wait any longer for the new PPP album called Abundance which is due in late January. However, Waajeed and Saadiq of PPP produced and just release The Karma EP, and they are giving it away for free. A definite treat full of energy. (via Fresh Selects)
