To be honest, very few artists or bands really spark my interest and get me really excited. Santigold was such an artist.  Then I heard this trio by the name of The Invisible out of England on Zane Lowe‘s BBC show awhile back and their song Monster’s Waltz. At the time, Zane proclaimed the song Monster’s Waltz “The Hottest Record in the World”.  The song is amazing. Mixing a little TV On The Radio, with a dash of Prince, a sprinkle of Radiohead, and some soul of Shuggie Otis for good measure .  I initially blogged about this on RadioMilwaukee’s blog back in June.  Even the famous trend finding site Cool Hunting found them worthy for their blog.

Who are The Invisible?

Back in 2006, Dave Okumu(frontman) was in a band called Jade Fox which was a Jazz band with a mulitude of influences. Dave met up with friends Tom Herbert(Polar Bear), and Leo Taylor to work on what was initially a solo project for Okumu. One thing led to another and the project evolved into a full fledge band which is now on Matthew Herbert‘s label Accidental Records (Eska, Rosin Murphy, and etc.)

Their debut album is out now as an import, and it was produced by Matthew Herbert.

The Invisible are the first group that the celebrated electronic pioneer has been inspired to work with in this way. Herbert’s influence can be heard in the balancing of electronic elements with more natural, organic sounds, matching his studio expertise with the band’s live sound.

Check them out for yourself.
