On this past weekend’s show we had a special segment from our friend, DJ, producer, and tastemaker Karen P from London. She has been putting on an amazing live series called Broad Casting. The Broad Casting event juxtaposes artists and genres in ways you would never think would work. Artists such as Buraka Som Sistema to Tony Allen to Hypnotic Brass Ensemble to Jimi Tenor to Mulatu Astatke have performed.

Snoop Crosses Over to the “Dark Side” into Dubstep

For all those quote “True Hip Hop Heads”, you won’t like it. But for those who know hip hop has no boundaries, this is for y’all. Snoop released a track called Snoop Dogg Millionaire. I didn’t think nothing much of it until I peeped it over at Mad Decent. My mouth dropped wide open! Snoop rapping over a sick Dubstep beat, and I mean SICK.

La Roux, “In For The Kill (Skream Let’s Get Ravey Mix)”

When I got this song from 20 year old Brit La Roux remixed by dubstep posterchild Skream, I played it at least 15 times within a couple of hours. Let me say first I’m digging La Roux’s music without the remix. She is signed to the French Label Kitsuné. She is bringing back the music from the 80′s I liked (i.e. Prince, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, etc.). She is also a 2009 BBC artist to watch.
