She could have one of the most anticipated albums of 2009. Philadelphia’s saucy but sweet Miss Amanda Blank is set to release her debut release entitled simply, “I Love You” on the same label of her buddy Santigold – Downtown Records. For years now, she has a been killing tracks with fellow Philadelphians Spank Rock, Plastic Little, N.A.S.A., and others. With her ability not only to flow she also has the abilty to be an hypnotic siren with her singing. Her forthcoming album, “I Love You” will have production from Diplo, XXXChange(Spank Rock), and Swtich. Plus there will be guest appearances from Swedish sensation Lykke Li, Santigold, Spank Rock, and The Cool Kids.

Amanda just dropped her first single from the album via RCRDLBL. The track is called “Might Like You Better”. The song is produced by XXXChange and it uses the sample from the 1982 Romeo Void classic “Never Say Never”

Snow is melting; weather is warming up; soon the flowers will be blooming. Once that happens, festival season will be starting. There is a lot of festivals such as Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, Coachella, Bonnaroo, and others with huge lineups. However, in the city of brotherly love, there is a little festival known as The Roots Picnic. In its second year, I think has one of the best lineup by far. No it is not two or three day extravaganza in muddy field where no-one takes a shower, but it sticks to its mission of bringing a diverse of established and emerging artists. Started by the band The Roots (hence the name), The Roots Picnic is only one day, but a day you won’t forget. Unlike other festivals where you don’t want to see everyone, this one you want to see all the performances. Artists such as TV On The Radio, Public Enemy, Santigold, The Black Keys, Antibalas, Kid Cudi, Asher Roth and more will be performing at this year’s Picnic. Public Enemy will perform “It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back”, backed by Antibalas and The Roots (now that is crazy).

Pre-sale tickets for this magical event go on sale today through March 19th. The festival will be held in Philadelphia at The Festival Pier, Penns Landing. Okayplayer has a PRE-SALE SPECIAL – $5 off your ticket (use password: EARLYBIRD). You better get your tickets while their hot.
